Online life showcasing applies mechanical devices, for example, the web, web based life stages and cell phones to pass and course messages in regards to an organization, brands or items. In this regard, there is no confinement with regards to the quantity of individuals who can be reached by the message, rather than the customary commercial, where the print or broad communications might be restricted in openness to a specific class of the crowd. The other bit of leeway of Social media advertising is that it offers a far simpler procedure of building brand steadfastness, through permitting the commitment of the clients through each phase of the brand items, with the end goal that the last item is customized for consumer loyalty, in this way making the client faithful to the br and. Web based life promoting is likewise profitable in that it offers the brand proprietors and companyââ¬â¢s chances to improve their items, by gaining the client needs from the inputs created through online life. All things considered, the drawback related with Social media showcasing is that the adequacy of internet based life promoting profoundly relies upon the marketerââ¬â¢s ability and time pledge to building up the commercial message, instead of conventional media which can arrive at the intended interest group even without overburdening the advertiser with time and ability duties. olageorge1976http://www.blogger.com/profile/09882596724539999181noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4155883594471034504.post-24260251711264253982020-08-23T01:22:00.001-07:002020-08-23T01:22:04.494-07:00Van Doesburg and the International Avante3 Steps to Acing Your Upcoming Group Interview Youââ¬â¢ve been approached in for a board meet. The camera changes back to the young ladies with Abigail approaching Tituba and afterward Abigail murmurs in Abigailââ¬â¢s ear and Tituba looks terrified and stunned as she state no. Abigail then pivots to the pot hurries to it and gets the chicken by its feet and hits its leader of a stone breaking its neck the Abigail drinks the blood of the chicken. At that point Abigail takes her garments off, all the young ladies are shouting then one of the young ladies sees Parris coming towards them so they all flee aside from Betty who says that she can't move. The camera edges through the entirety of this were quick and irate. At that point everything begins to back off with an image of Parris on his own taking a gander at the cauldron he lifts up the enormous spoon inside the pot and drops as though he was terrified of it, when he see the chicken also he gets irritated however he is somewhat frightened. The following scene shows Betty in her bed, with a doubt of black magic drifting about the spot. Just Tituba and Abigail are in the live with Betty there have around eight minutes of shooting yet we hear no words verbally expressed. There is evident pressure among Tituba and Abigail over what has occurred. Increasingly pressure is demonstrated when Parris questions Abigail about the occurrence in the timberland. Presently music is played again with Abigail saying that they moved yet Parris suspects black magic however Abigail is stating that no spirits have been invoked. The following scene is of Elizabeth and John Proctor who are demonstrating a great deal of strain. This strain is raised in light of the fact that John Proctor had an unsanctioned romance with there previous hireling, and think about who that worker wasâ⬠¦ Abigail Williams. The scene starts of very lovely truly with John Proctor and his children working, the music is very sprightly, the camera edges are very far of. John Proctor and his go inside with his children hitting the sack and him going to have his supper. Elizabeth offers it to him without talking however when they do talk it is about how there marriage is self-destructing. At that point the last scene of strain is in Church with the entire town there when a tune is sung the young ladies head toward Bettyââ¬â¢s room then Abigail addresses Betty saying she has revealed to her dad everything that occurred in the forested areas. At that point like lightning Betty awakens with her colloquialism ââ¬Å"I wager you never disclosed to him that you drank an appeal Abby, an appeal to execute Goody Proctorâ⬠. At that point the music gets extremely noisy this is underscoring how significant this scene truly is. The others young ladies get very frightened and begin to stroll off so Abigail undermines them that she would murder any individual who tells on her doings. The camera is just on Abigail, however then Betty bounces up yelling she needs her mother and attempts to travel to her out of the window yet the young ladies hold her back and everybody in the congregation wipes out to them. This causes a great deal of strain between all the young ladies and makes black magic a superior end to what has been going on. In end to Nicolas Hytnerââ¬â¢s movie of the play ââ¬Å"The Crucibleâ⬠was coordinated very well making them start of the film effectively better to the book the film puts things in place better and I accept that it likewise makes increasingly pressure. Likewise with the plot being so old it was some of the time more obvious the words better with them being said effectively and with additionally having the option to perceive what is happening. Nicolas Hytner has utilized artistic highlights to as well as could be expected be in this film there fore creation the recording better for all watchers. The purpose of this is so that you can have a better idea of what to expect when submitting your own evaluations for the first time. You should be able to understand why it is important for you to be as honest as possible with your assessment, since it is in fact one of the first ways you will get noticed. One of the most important things that you want to remember when writing your resume is that the most important thing is always the content of your resume. Of course this is not only the content of your resume, but the content is usually at the center of your entire document. It is the only way you will get noticed, and it is the basis of all of your other work.Writing a resume is the same as writing an essay. The material in it is simply a compilation of your professional achievements and abilities. However, unlike essays where y ou want to include your professional skills and experiences, it is very common for resumes to only list a few details about you. As such, it is also important that you state what you like, dislike, and what you do that make you the person you are.The next thing you want to do is to really think about how to look at your accomplishments. It is true that you are the most important thing in your new job, but this doesn't mean that your accomplishments don't count. You can also make a statement that you've built strong relationships with your fellow employees. This really helps because this statement will sound like something that you would say and not something that your interviewer is going to look for.You also want to look at what it is that employers are looking for. They want to see that you are not only someone who can teach, but someone who can teach to the best of their ability. This means that you want to focus on your teaching experience, rather than just the job itself.Finall y, you want to look at how much thought you put into this writing. It is very common for teachers to throw out words that they can fit in their document, but what you want to do is use those words carefully. The last thing you want to do is to get it all wrong and end up with something that your interviewer reads and immediately dismisses as not being believable. These are some of the aspects that you will see in your teacher evaluation essay samples. Since you will need to submit these to various places, I recommend that you look into submitting them online to save yourself time and money. olageorge1976http://www.blogger.com/profile/09882596724539999181noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4155883594471034504.post-4179428722718320562020-06-23T23:08:00.001-07:002020-06-23T23:08:03.476-07:00Could Stem Cell Injections Heal Muscles - Free Essay Example In this paper I will mainly focus on the effects of stem cell injections on skeletal muscle injures in mice, this is because those types of muscle injuries are extremely common. Skeletal muscle is a highly specialized tissue made up of non-dividing, multi-nucleated muscle fibers, which contract to generate force in a controlled and controlled manner, which account for up to half the mass of the human body. However, effective muscle function is both mechanically and energetically demanding, making this tissue particularly susceptible to damage. Such muscle damage may reduce mobility and contribute to metabolic. Skeletal muscle has a strong innate tissue damage repair capability. Despite the proficiency of this intrinsic repair capability, severe injuries resulting in a significant loss of muscle tissue overwhelm the innate repair process and require intervention in order to restore muscle function. Natural muscle damage repair is a step wise process requiring the coordinated activity of a number of cell types involving three healing steps: degeneration and inflammation, regeneration and fibrosis. There is a phase of myofiber degeneration immediately after injury that is initiated by the release of proteases into the tissue stroma; these proteases automatically digest myofibers and thereby release tissue debris along the injury zone. In addition, macrophages stimulate the paracrine release by T cells of cytokines and other chemotactic factors that can recruit progenitor and satellite cells with muscle regeneration capacity locally. While the degeneration phase is transient, the subsequent regeneration phase of myofibers is the first step in the long-term pattern of skeletal muscle injury. This phase may begin as early as 24 hours after injury, as evidenced by the cytokine-mediated induction of local satellite cells that previously lie dormant between the basal lamina and sarcolemma; however, the complete formation of new, centronucleated myofibers cannot be detected histologically until at least 3 5 days after injury. It is likely that the differentiation of satellite cells into myotubules and myofibers is a crucial event in the regeneration phase. To date, these progenitor cells are perhaps the best characterized and are often referred to as muscle stem cells because they favor myogenic lines. Fibrous tissue prevents the full recovery of the muscle and current therapies fail to achieve total recovery of the muscle. Gene and (or both) cell therapy are potential future treatments for serious muscle injuries. The properties of stem cells related to growth factors and /or cytokines can improve muscle healing and allow for long term recovery. Perhaps the biggest limitation for patients resulting from skeletal muscle injury pathophysiology is the formation of a dense fibrotic scar tissue. Clearly, fibrosis is caused by a deleterious increase in the cytokine growth factor (TGF)-B1 following injury. MDSCs and other myogenic cells differentiate into myofibroblasts, which produce collagen type I, the main component of fibrotic tissue, in the presence of this cytokine. Fibrosis can ultimately prevent patients from returning to their basic function, partly by preventing the formation of new axons towards myofibers, and contributes to a decrease in muscle contractility and range of movement. It is a known fact that as we get older, our cells gradually lose the ability to heal themselves and injury can cause muscle loss due to a process called muscular atrophy, which is where regenerative medicine takes place. Like stem cell injections, which fall under the category of stem cell therapy to treat or prevent a disease or condition by using stem cells. Stem cells are capable of differentiating into specific types of cells. The two defining features of a stem cell are perpetual s elf-regeneration and the ability to differentiate into a specialized type of adult cell. There are two main classes of stem cells: pluripotent cells that can become any cell in the adult body and multipotent cells that are limited to a smaller cell population. In the case of muscle damage, the cells that have been used most frequently in pre-clinical trials are muscle satellite cells (MSCs). MSCs have the ability to renew and differentiate into multiple lineages of connective tissue, including bone, fat, cartilage, tendon, muscle, and bone marrow stromal cells. Stem cell injections has proven to be successful in injured/aging mice but do to some challenges this form of therapy has not move forward to clinical trials, but results may forecast a promising future for regenerative medicine Research The research I found was limited to animal models and majority of the studies were performed in laboratory experiments on mice. For example, researchers at the Georgia Institute of Technology have developed a molecular matrix, a hydrogel, to deliver muscle satellite cells (MSCs) directly to damage muscle tissue in patients whose muscles do not regenerate well. The hydrogel was successfully in delivering MuSCs to injured, aged muscle tissue in mice and boosted the healing process while protecting the stem cells from harsh immune reactions. CS In Addition, the same method was also s uccessful in mice with a muscle tissue deficiency that matched Duchene muscular dystrophy, and if research progresses, the new hydrogel therapy could one day save the lives of people suffering from the disease. Researchers at the University of Colorado in Boulder and the University of Washington also discovered that stem cells injected into the muscles of the mouse led to an increase for the rest of the mouses life. The injuries not only healed, but muscle mass increased by 50 percent and muscle volume increased by 170 percent. For some reason, the stem cells did not simply multiply and replace old damaged cells. They formed new connections to myofibers and increased significantly in numbers within the muscle. In other words, whatever the transplanted stem cells did, it was much more than just repairing damage and normalizing things. Issues with Research When it comes to stem cell injections moving into clinical trials there are a few challenges that need to be faced for that to happen. For example our immune system, researchers at the Georgia institute for technology found that simply injecting additional muscle satellite cells into damaged, inflamed tissue was inefficient because the new cells enter the body when the immune system on the warpath. And like any muscle injury or disease its going to attract the immune system and where as in any other case this would be a good thing, in the case o f aged or dystrophic muscles it is not. This is because in this case the immune system release toxins that kill the stem cells off, in fact when tested the found that between and 1 and 20 percent of the injected MSCs actually made it to the targeted site and those that did were weakened. Which is why they developed a solution to coat the cells in , a hydrogel often start out as water-based solutions of molecular components that resemble crosses, and other components that make the ends of the crosses attach to each other. When the components come together, they fuse into molecular nets suspended in water, resulting in a material with the consistency of a gel. If stem cells or a drug are mixed into the solution, when the net, or matrix, forms, it ensnares the treatment for delivery and protects the payload from death or dissipation in the body. Whereas researchers at the University of Colorado at Boulder and the University of Washington ran into a different issue/ concern. The mice used in this experiment injuries were inflicted directly using barium chloride injections and its made the question if that was a natural injury or muscle loss due to a disease would the stem cell reaction be similar. And they also questioned if age at the time of injury/ treatment played a major role in the effects since they used mice that were about 3 months in age for the treatment and as donors. Sine the muscles in mice are very small so its unclear on how well the cells would migrate in the larger muscles of humans. Si milarities Mouse models are regarded as the most advanced and practical models used as an alternative to genetic research in humans. Ethical concerns in many cases prevent scientists from using human subjects and embryos to test stem cell therapies that could be used for future use. In such cases, it can be extremely useful that an impressive 99 percent of the genes belonging to mouse DNA match the corresponding human counterpart gene sequences. In this way, scientists can use embryonic and adult stem cells from mice and conduct their research unhindered while also gaining important insights into the potentially practical adaptation of research to clinical trials in humans. Mouse studies make stem cell research more bright than ever before. Many of the past few achievements and advances in embryonic stem cell research have been achieved using ES cells grown from different mouse models. Since embryonic cells can play a role in virtually any other cell type, mouse ES cells have already been used to develop and study different mouse tissue samples closely resembling human tissue and to evaluate their reaction to certain treatments and stimuli. The genetic manipulation of ES cells in the mouse and the addition of human genetic material are also at the forefront of e mbryonic stem cell research. olageorge1976http://www.blogger.com/profile/09882596724539999181noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4155883594471034504.post-66609061620636935182020-05-20T01:35:00.001-07:002020-05-20T01:35:06.132-07:00Decision-Making Model Paper - Free Essay Example Sample details Pages: 10 Words: 3037 Downloads: 3 Date added: 2017/06/26 Category Psychology Essay Type Argumentative essay Did you like this example? Decision-Making Model Paper Life is full of decisions. Some of them are trivial, like for example: should I choose this newspaper or another? Which kind of dish should I choose from the menu? Other decisions are hard to evaluate and vital, like for example: should I put my private life first or I should privilege professional aspects, should I take this new job opportunity to relocate somewhere else? Some decisions can affect many people, others only yourself. An appropriate decision making plays a major role in the success of any business management. Donââ¬â¢t waste time! Our writers will create an original "Decision-Making Model Paper" essay for you Create order The success of the business and projects depends on the decision making quality of the management and leadership. Making good decisions is fundamental to obtain a good performance in organization. There are some decisions that can have huge consequences, which can change the organizational roles and the company operation processes. The daily choices that organizations have to take are always subject to variations, this is a continuous process of making reactions and consequences; a circle in which each person has a role. Without an appropriate and good decision making, leaders and managers are not able to achieve projects and business objectives. Good decision making is not an easy task for a manager, because there are many potential factors that can influence the decision making process, such as environmental, cultural, economic and physiological factors. One of the main impediments and barriers related to good decision making is the lack of information, because in decision makin g if a manager takes a decision based on an improper or insufficient data this can have an impact on the success of the decision. In addition, without having a proper information, managers are not able to take correct decisions. Moreover, due to lack of time and resources, managers are usually unable to collect appropriate and sufficient elements and this obviously contributes to make bad decisions. Lacking of availability of sufficient, reliable and proper information also implies an impact on managerà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢s decision making. Another factor that may affect decision making is when managers have poor ideas. This is an impediment in a decision making situation because on the basis of poor arguments, managers will not take good decisions. Ideas play a major role in decision making, as on the basis of different ideas of a given problem managers take decisions related to the situation. In addition, if the idea is wrong the probability of succeeding is very low. For example, if a manager is looking for improving the profit, but is only focusing on cost reduction and cut expenses, this wonà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢t work as he would expect in optimizing resources utilization and improving production in order to achieve higher profit. So, without good ideas and better solutions, managersà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢ decision making is not effective for the business. The five steps of the decision making process that should be identified when facing a problem are: define the problem, generate and evaluate alternatives, decide course of action, implement the decision and evaluate the results. In this essay Ià ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢m going to present two different decision-making approaches. Ià ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢m also going to describe a decision that I made while working for a previous company using the five steps of the decision making process and Ià ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢ m going to highlight how critical thinking had an impact on that decision. The following model is a decision-making sc hema that I applied to reach a decision. FRAMING Clarify purpose and boundaries of the decision Gather information Identify who is affected by the decision Identify who is in charge to make the decision (an individual or a group) Identify what experience or knowledge is needed to make the decision Determine what information or resources are available on decision making process topic Define by when the decision needs to be made Communicate to affected parties who is in charge for decision making and the reasons for it DECIDING Define how the decision will be approved (consensus, voting, etc.) Use appropriate tools that support data gathering (affinity diagram, how-how, interrelationship digraph, fishbone, flowcharts) Make the decision through ideas and data integration, negotiation and ideas prioritization Identify who (individual or group) will implement the decision COMMUNICATING Summarize the rationale for the decision Communicate the decision, why it was done and the reasons for it IMPLEMENTING Define the steps in implementing the decision including completion timeframes Define the method to report when something is done and who will get the report EVALUATING Identify the process for assessing impact of decision We can define critical thinking as, The general term given to a wide range of cognitive skills and intellectual dispositions needed to effectively identify, analyze, and evaluate arguments and truth claims, to discover and overcome personal prejudices and biases, to formulate and present convincing reasons in support of conclusions, and to make reasonable, intelligent decisions about what to believe and what to do. In other words, critical thinking consists in being able to look at information critically. It implies asking questions about the information presented and then analyzing the answers. It means using the answers to create new ideas, solve problems, and make decisions. Critical thinking is imperative to making sound decisions using a decision-making modelà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã . This was an example of a quite simple decision that I had to take in occasion of company department restructuration, while working for the previous company. Top management decided to swap and merge a few d epartments that were reporting to several managers, this was done mainly to reduce staff costs and optimize project organization flows, as few roles and departments were overlapping. I was chosen as manager for supporting and à ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã
âredesigningà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã the new staff reorganization. I decided then to proceed step by step: The first one was to get acquainted with my team, the second was to involve managers of the other departments to understand if the teams were optimally organized, team activities, head counts, ongoing projects, internal problems, workflows etc. At the end of my analysis I had to revert top management with my findings on team organization, about what could be done in order to increase team efficiency and productivity, and I had to provide my hints on how to rearrange them. I decided then to use decision-making model to determine and evaluate what needed to be done, and if any organizational changes should to be done, if opt to merge departments with o thers, if hire or fire people. As part of the model framing process, I knew that I had to take the decisions alone and that this would potentially impact the company structure and business. However, I wanted to get the input also from the other managers, since they were more knowledgeable regarding the strengths of each team member and they were familiar with the dynamics, which tend to arise when working in groups. I did not want to inform, or announce, any implementation or changes too quickly to avoid any kind of shock, like having to report to a new boss or being relocated somewhere else or fired. In the deciding phase I met each individual manager for a face-to-face coffee break. I had previously prepared a list of questions that I was going to ask them, which I would cover during our conversation. I shared that my goal was to get to know each of them deeply and find out something more about their team, their feelings and thoughts about company businesses and activities. I also encouraged them to ask questions, in their turn. I questioned them about their perception concerning their position in the group, their development plans, and I requested them what they would have changed about the group if they were top managers. I spent about a week in order to be able to gather all the information through this process. I found out that the staff was organized fairly well, with a few exceptions, and the teams were working on almost the same topics (different resources from different teams were working on same topics waste of time/resources à ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â¬Å" and this was happening mainly because teams were not communicating to each other, so people were not informed that they were working on the same projects). The overall outcome was anyway really good and I decided to make only two minor changes and a major one: I decided to move two teammates to different teams within the same group and to merge two teams in order to increase overall productivity and efficien cy and to establish weekly meetings among team managers to avoid any double activities and to let all of them share weekly updates and results. As part of the communication phase I referred my proposed changes to top management, that validated my decision and I shared rationale behind my organization changes with them. Changes were implemented while talking on a new project for the teams. I spoke with the impacted colleagues, communicating that I needed their specialized skill sets in their new groups. They showed to acknowledge the news well and they continued to be satisfied on their new teams. I went on keeping periodic one-to-one meetings with my staff and the other managers. During those meetings I had to assess the impact of my decisions. Another kind of decision that I had I had to take was about my career plan. I spent the last 2 years working within finance field and this has had a great impact in a lot of ways, both in my professional and private life. I have been able to create a pleasant environment with my colleagues and have appreciated my collaboration with the company. They used to say and believe that the fundamental aspect in your job activity to perceive a great passion on what you do and enjoy while doing it. I have been able to follow the advice and in fact I continue to improve myself in order to effectively perform my work. It isnà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢t easy to cope with the responsibility linked to making decisions within a company. Moreover making the right decision becomes even more painful when your own feelings are involved. Being in charge of international teams, my work implies examination and supervision of the work done by my teammates, work with different people across different continents, cultures, religions and ways of thinking. The job is not easy to do because there are people who will take it personally when you control some aspects of their work and their quality results. There are people, who answer à ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã
âyes, I g ot ità ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã , even if they donà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢t understand. Being involved in a few project reviews that include wide and complex projects is a very hard situation to manage, as my role sometimes involves decisions that may not be in favor of team mates. Moreover, it is sometimes hard understand their enrollment and support to the project tasks or their participation in different project aspects. I cannot avoid being deeply concerned with the situation and with its possible consequences in other people lifeà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢s, because they have a personal direct report line and they know me. I still donà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢t manage to accept the fact that some people could do things against the company without following assigned tasks. There are of course also decisions that need a proper judgement like when choosing between personal life and your work. A practical example is when you are faced with the problem of refusing an assignment because there is a family matters to attend. It might be the case that you choose to be absent from work in order to take some time for yourself. One of the hardest decisions that I had to take in these two years was about issuing an end contract review to one of my teammates. Thus part of my responsibility is to interview new candidates that will join my team and to monitor their results. One of them has been diagnosed with a mental disease and this was a piece of information they used against her. During her apparent ship she didnà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢t show any sign of her illness. In fact I had found her an efficient and effective collaborator, thanks to of her patience, intelligence, and as well as willingness on learning and improving her knowledge in the field. After three weeks, and in reason of my recommendation, to give her access to widen her learning experience within the company operativity, the Compliance Officer decided to introduce her in the operation team as junior assistant for a period of two months. D uring her training, I was informed by her line supervisor that she experienced sudden attack of hallucination. The news took me by surprise and deeply affected me because I didnà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢t suspect such a terrible truth. Human Resources wasnà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢t acquainted at all regarding her health problem and for this reason they were unable to communicate me the results of her background inquiries. I was asked by her line manager to conduct a thorough evaluation of her case and consequently to report my findings on her status to company top management. In reason of this insufficient investigation carried out by Human Resources, I found myself in the unpleasant situation of not knowing how to proceed on her present status with our HR Dept. Of course there is a labor law that has to be taken in consideration concerning company protection. Her school reports were good like her previous professional experience, but her disease generated doubts in me about her ability to perform her daily tasks and the impact of her illness on other co-workers. The decision has to be done before the apprentice ship period ends. Through assessment, I finally decided to recommend closing her contract with the company, because of the effect of her mental disease to the general team results, or like the impact that high workload and pressure will result on her disease. I had to set aside my empathy, in order to privilege the whole company. She couldnà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢t afford too much pressure on herself, she would have suffered much more and this might not be helpful for her case. The working environment within the company is extremely competitive, thus I continually check my results and evaluate to invest in further education. I trusted the management and I set aside too much of my private life for the company but unfortunately in the end I was deceived. This disappointment made me doubt about management effectiveness to support me in any further career development. As long as I love my job and colleagues I work with, I have to consider carefully all options and evaluate other future possible alternatives. My frustrations started when I requested the management to let me lead different team operations, in order to be able to concentrate on my academic studies and simultaneously experience new challenges, since operations are a very demanding area of the financial companies undertakings. Being a business oriented person, I feel the necessity to look for more challenges and as Ià ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢m already in IT management since more than 10 years it no longer provides me the challenges and motivations I need. I thus asked the management to relocate me to other areas aiming to improve my skills in other ways. Unfortunately the request was refused and I was kept in the same position. Furthermore, my supervisor, our Chief Financial Officer resigned and a good percentage of his workload was transferred to me, without even opting for a promotion. I performed his functions as additional to mine, so at the end my job was involving multi-tasking activities. In a practical thinking environment, I was expecting a career advance or promotion, but unfortunately my request was put aside for more than three months. As a consequence Ià ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢m unsatisfied with my current job position and, at the present moment while experiencing a serious doubt concerning the decision whether to stay or leave the group. Management choice not to support me in impeding me to pursue my education has been a great disappointment to me. I was unhappy with the way in which the Human Resources dept. managed the situation and left me no option but to resigned and abandon the company. The decision to continue to work for the same company is very difficult for me because I loved the job and the people. The company has been my second home, but in a professional perspective. I have the impression that I am no longer in the right place because I now experience discon tentment, which would greatly affect the quality of my work if I stayed. I have taken into considerations a lot of options and alternatives for my future. I have different sensations about my resignation, because in many ways I am afraid facing the many changes that this decision may lead to after resigning. These uncertain include dealing with new companies, new working context and groups or new bosses. Moreover the fact that I might not find a suitable job immediately has given me a frustrating feeling of inadequacy and incompetence. I have been working for years and now I realize that I could be forced to stay at home with nothing to do. This prospective frightens me a lot, because I cannot stand idleness, even for a short period of time. All of these uncurtains must be solved, otherwise I wonà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢t realize that I can still get a lot of satisfaction from my business life. I am still young and there are so many open opportunities just waiting for me. Therefore, my dec ision has been taken: I am perfectly determined to accept à ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã
âjob-hunting challengeà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã again. I believe in my skills and possibilities to pursue and find the à ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã
âdream jobà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã I am looking for. Consciously or unconsciously, decisions are taken daily, at work or at home. These decisions can involve and affects individuals, groups, or families. The more crucial a decision is, the more it requires thorough evaluation and critical thinking, counterbalancing the positive and negative issues it could lead too. Having a global picture is always good as it will help to become a good manager and improve the ability to make good decisions. A decision-making model is a good process to obtain optimum decisions. In William Faulkners short story, A Rose for Emily, the reader acknowledges the rude reality of Emily Griersons inability to be receptive of a new, dynamic and ever-changing world. Emily is not only lonely but also a mysterious lady, who lives in a large, post-civil war era home with her father. William Faulkner narrates this old and lonely ladys story, precisely explicating how she remains stuck in her own timeframe. Donââ¬â¢t waste time! Our writers will create an original "William Faulkners A Rose for Emily: A Southern Heritage Reflection" essay for you Create order Although her autocratic father died over thirty years earlier, Emily remains rigid and still holds onto her the way she lived her life before her fathers demise. According to Perry, Emilys house, formerly luxurious white with scrolled balconies, has is now an excellent example of the most ghastly looking abode on the once most revered square in the town. Encroached with decay and dust, the house has left people in her city gossiping about her while at the same time pitying her lost soul. Perhaps due to loneliness and desperation, she soon gets in a romantic affair with Homer Barron, a young bachelor who works in a construction corporation paving footways on Emilys city streets, Jefferson. The more the townspeople see them taking rides together, the more they talk and sympathize with her. In a dramatic twist of events, Emilys public appearances with Homer lessen. One day Miss Emily is seen acquiring poison from a drug market. A Rose for Emily is fundamentally a tale of old versus new and tradition versus non-tradition. Faulkner brings these aspects into the limelight through the storys main characters, Miss Emily and Homer. Right from the exposition of the text, it is clear that the story revolves around old versus new. Emily Grierson signifies the Old South. This essay will consequently discuss the cultural and historical significance of her character while drawing its examples from the traditional southern heritage. Faulkner successfully creates a gloomy tone of A Rose for Emily particularly at the beginning of this epic tale chronicling the requiem of Miss Emily. With the storys progression, the author takes the readers through distinctive moments in Miss Emilys life, explicitly detailing how she was lost her own world as everything around her kept moving forward. Faulkner additionally employs foreshadowing, narrator point of view, and the southern gothic writing technique, to aid the reader form a visualization of Miss Emily, as well as the town. According to Rodgers, these elements also give the reader an insight into her environment a clear glimpse of her sanity. Faulkners application of the southern gothic writing method is significant in the understanding of A Rose for Emily, as it helps the reader develop a mental depiction of the main character, Miss Emily. For instance, the town administration commissioned their envoys to discuss the levies that were owed, the author describes her as bloated, like a body long submerged in motionless water (2182). A depiction such as this presents the reader with the impression that Miss Emily is not well. His witty elucidation that she seemed bloated accomplishes his desired effect on the anthologys reader to attest how disgusting she emerged. This photographic representation, merged with the Faulkners dismal portrayal of the parlor (2182), creates in the reader the image of death. Moreover, the reader gets the feeling of being in an interment parlor. This is crucial as it helps to reinforce Faulkners narrative and depiction of Miss Emily.. A significant theme in A Rose for Emily, is the deterioration of the Old South, which connects to the southern cultural values and economic structure before the eruption of the Civil War (Beyer 34). In the prewar South, society consisted of slaves, tenant farmers, merchants, and the landed nobility. Throughout this time, aristocrats abided by the southern codes of honor. While men took up their positions as providers and protectors, women had to keep the highest levels of morality. The Griersons in A Rose for Emily, belong to the landed gentry class. They exhibit the superiority complex and arrogance that befits their status (Perry, 161). Emilys father, for example, clearly displays this stance by deeming no local suitor deserves his daughter as a wife. Emily too displays the same attitude, shunning society from her life even long after her fathers death. Miss Emilys reaction toward her tax obligations, association with the townspeople, and her understanding of death are explicit examples that she is stuck in the past although the south has embraced modernism. With the passing and retiring from civil service of older generation members, the younger generation expects Emily to pay taxes to the local government as there was no written rule exempted her from doing so. She responds that Colonel Sartoris clarified to her that she did not owe any tax to Jefferson. Although Sartoris died ten years ago, she still clings to what she believes Colonel had given his word, and according to the traditional view, his word knew no death. It is the past pitted against the present-the past with its social decorum, the present with everything set down in the books ( Rodgers, 121). With this, she passes as an excellent representation of a superb keeper of the southern customs and traditions. Despite the modern industrialization characterized by large-sca le crop production, motorized vehicles, and the construction of the railroad, Emily remains stuck in the old south, rigidly holding onto the old social values and oblivious of the fact that modernity had grossly decreased the power and influence of the landed gentry. In conclusion, William Faulkner just like other Southern Gothic novelists concentrated on portraying southern experience and history in the United States particularly in the periods following the Civil War. They employed grotesque imagery, themes, and symbolism. Faulkner uses all these in A Rose for Emily to highlight the texts primary concern, traditions versus change. His portrayal of Emily brings into sharp focus the struggles the old south conservatives went through in their efforts to preserve their cultural values amidst widespread modernization and industrialization. William Faulkner ultimately shows that failure to acknowledge change leads to peril as Emily, the epitome of tradition remains lonely throughout her life, incapable of even accepting the death of her father. She presents those who would not abandon the customs whose time had passed and this subjects them to dire consequences. Her rigidity finally leads to her death as she kills the handsome Northerner Homer, and l ater, submits a tremendous deal of condemnation and succumbs. By her murdering homer she endorses the fact that the conservatives could do anything to ensure they do not acknowledge industrialization, represented by Homer. olageorge1976http://www.blogger.com/profile/09882596724539999181noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4155883594471034504.post-85522840573788913662020-05-06T22:51:00.001-07:002020-05-06T22:51:13.111-07:00Comparing A Worn Path by Eudora Welty and A Rose For... Comparing A Worn Path by Eudora Welty and A Rose For Emily by William Faulkner In the pages of the short stories, A Worn Path and A Rose For Emily we are able to see a similar side and connection between the two. As we look at the theme, tone, and morals we are able to better grasp the conflict in these two stories, while detecting whether the two protagonists, Miss Emily and Phoenix Jackson are mentally crazy. The main moral in A Worn Path is the love, and life of Phoenix Jackson. The path she travels across interrupts her life. Her love is the love and affection she has for her grandson. If we read the story closer then it may lead us to the conclusion that Phoenix really does not have a Grandson. So she decides to kill her current crush and she keeps him in a locked room until the day she dies. When you compare the two books they have a very similar tone. Though the locations different they still connect through the same tone. Phoenix Jackson is on a trail walking to town to buy some medicine for her Grandson, while Miss Emily is locked up in her house with a dead man. If you were to not focus as much on the location and put your attention to their state of mind then you can see that they are in the same atmosphere. The tone in A Worn Path is for Phoenix to accomplish the task of getting medicine for her grandchild, while the reader can look at the path as the challenges of her life. Miss Emily on the other hand is just looking to not be so alone. They both know that if they set their mind to their goal then they can accomplish anything they wish to. The theme is slightly different however. Miss Emily and Phoenix both have goals, but in A Worn Path Phoenix?s life is portrayed so much by the path itself. The path in the story tells the life of Phoenix. Any form of test marketing has its drawbacks. Marketers of food products often use taste testing as a way of predicting consumer behavior with reference to the new product, and this approach has its dangers as well. People select foods based on personal preferences, and when we are talking about foodstuffs, we are really talking about personal preferences over group preferences. That is, each person has his or her own particular likes and dislikes, and some products will appeal to them and some will not. Answer: Introduction During the time of a disease or health care, a patient can be treated by two or more healthcare practitioners or professionals in different settings such as surgical care, primary care, intensive care and specialized outpatient care. Besides, patients may often move between places of diagnosis, treatments, and care on a regular basis. During this time, they might encounter multiple shifts per day, thus putting their safety at risk in every interval. The handover process between healthcares providers might lack some of the essential information about the patient hence lead to misunderstanding (Jorm et al. 2009). Such gaps in communication can result in serious breakdowns in a continuity of care as well as improper treatment or harm to the patient. This paper addresses the process of clinical handover in nursing practice. It looks at a case study of Mr. Smith, an 87-year-old patient with a colostomy in the sigmoid area of his bowel and ailing from diarrhea and vomiting. Since poor hand hygiene can be one of the leading cause of diarrhea, a medical professional can use the vital signs of his patient to monitor the ailment (see Appendix 2), use progress note to provide information about the patient condition or achievement as well as provide a food and fluid chart to help on a favorite diet program. Clinical handover Clinical handover is a method of sharing or transfer of patient information from one health officer to the other. During nursing handover, communications can be shared, via telephone, electronic means, written texts or one on one conversation (Jorm et al. 2009). In a health care setting, the technique of handing over depends on certain things such as the shift (morning, afternoon or night), patient as well as the mode of delivering the service (Johnson and Cowin, 2012).The Australian Medical Association has defined the clinical handover as the transfer of professional accountability plus responsibility for all the aspects of a patients care from one health officer to the other either on a permanent basis or temporary basis. Therefore, the primary purpose of the handover process is to transfer the relevant clinical information and continuity of patient care. Effective clinical handover reduces communication errors and improves patients safety. Inadequate or poor handover or failure to transfer information, accountability, and responsibility in nursing practice is a significant risk to clients safety plus a common reason for severe consequences for patients. Effects of poor clinical communication include issues such as incorrect treatment, adverse effects, and delay in medical diagnosis, patient complaints, increase in length of stay and an increase in expenditure (Australian Council for Safety Quality in Health Care 2005). The part of information about the Patient That Should Be Included in the Handover The information and level of details about the patients that is included in a nursing handover depend on several factors including the severity of the patients sickness and whether there are pending results of examinations that need quick follow-up. Clinical handover should include essential information such as patient background, date and time of admission, the reason for admission, any necessary medical history such as new referral, investigation, and treatments to mention just a few (Chaboyer et al. 2009). The introduction, situation, background, assessment plus recommendation (ISBAR) is a framework that can be used to present relevant information about patients in any clinical handover scenario. The introduction is the first element of ISBAR that include an introduction to the nurses plus the patient. The situation element explains the immediate condition of the patient including patient stability and complaints. According to Chaboyer et al. (2009), the background provides inform ation such as the date of admission, diagnosis, and treatment as well as test results up to the time a patient is in the hospital ward. The assessment provides the nursing examination of the patients conditions. The recommendation provides an outline of the recommendations and risk. Student Nurse Responsibility in Maintaining Confidentiality Confidentiality in health setting means preventing the release of health information given by or about an individual in the course of professional practice. Keeping patients information confidential is a requirement of the law as well as professional practice for every nurse (Griffith, 2015). This means every health professionals like nurses have a duty of confidentiality regarding patient information. The duty of confidentiality requires that nurses keep information about their patients secret. However, the nurse should release health information in a medical facility to improve patient safety or treatment. In this case, Nurse should pass patient health information on in sureness with the expectation that privacy/secrecy will be respected by the guarantee of confidentiality (Griffith and Tengnah, 2013). Colostomy When an individual has a problem with their lower bowel such as diseases and a case of bowelcancer, a colostomy is performed (Engida, 2016). A colostomy is a surgical operation that involves shortening the colon to allow for the damaged part to be removed and letting the cut end be diverted to the opening in the abdominal wall. However, the colostomy can be permanent or temporary. Some colostomies appear small, some large, some are on the right side of the abdomen, and some are on the left and others in the middle. A colostomy is one of the common life-saving emergency procedures done worldwide with the intention of either diversion of stool or decompression of obstructed colon to protect contamination of the distal large bowel segment by stool and to relieve obstructed large bowel (Engida, 2016).Therefore, a colostomy is performed to treat different condition and disease. These include perforated bowel, inflammatory bowel disease, colon or rectal cancer, diverticulitis, bowel obstru ction, ulcerative colitis, accidental injury or congenital disabilities. Healthy stoma appearance Stoma is a Greek word meaning opening or mouth. It refers to the part of intestine pulled through and attached to the skin (Dorman, 2009). When the abdominal wall is open, it creates a stoma, which is created by opening the skin and attaching a pouch to collect feces. The primary purpose of the stoma formation is to divert urine or feces away from disease or damaged track. According to Dorman (2009), some of the signs of a healthy stoma include red moist and shiny in color, when the stoma is above the skin level, and when it appears as if its inside the mouth, Cyrils colostomy stool characteristics The sigmoid colostomy is a very common type of colostomy. It originates in the sigmoid colon plus situated on the lower side of the abdomen. The stool of a sigmoid or descending colostomy is firmer than the other colostomy and does not have the caustic enzyme content (Abebe, 2016). In Cyril case, he has a colostomy located in the sigmoid section of the bowel. This means Cyrils colostomy would produce feces that are solid, regular and firmer. Contact Precautions in Managing Cyrils Colostomy Besides standard precautions, the nurse should use contact precautions when attending the patient to avoid direct contact with the patient. For the case of Mr. Smith, the nurse should wear gloves when coming into contact with Cyril as well as his belongings or immediate environment. The gloves should be removed after use plus prior to touching noncontaminated items or when attending other patients (Merboth and Barnason, 2000). Lastly, the hands should be cleaned right after removing the gloves. Another contact precaution that can be taken is to wear a gown that is fluid resistant. For safety to other patients, do not wear the same gown although. Other additional procedures that can be taken include placement of the patients in a private room to prevent the spread of the infection to other patients in the same ward. Also, you can instruct the patient to use separate washroom if available and disinfect it prior to using it again. Nurse action based on the vital sign score Merboth and Barnason (2000) states that nurses see their patients more often than any other medical officer. Therefore, they are in proper position to monitor the progress of their patients, know any issues early as well as judge what action should be taken for the patient. According to the vital score of the patient, it implied that the body temperature, pulse rate, blood pressure and respiratory rate were normal. After registering a vital sign score 3, the nurse should plan the care that includes; procedure ordered when communicating with the doctor using the ISBAR framework. The nurse should provide nursing measures to ensure comfort as well as boost recovery. This includes four-hourly observations, review oxygen requirement, manage fever, pain or distress, and reporting to the team leader. Most importantly, the nurse should provide three types of information. They are the care given to the patient, the patients response to the care, as well as any necessary background information about the patient. Lastly, if the measures havent been effective, the nurse may plan as well as take other measures to assist the patient (Engida, 2016). Communication using ISBAR Framework This is XXX, a first year nursing student in the medical section. The reason I am calling is that Mr. Cyril Smith has suddenly appeared pale and lethargic with trembling in his hands and has facial grimacing. He is also saying that he is not feeling very well; instead, he is feeling dizzy and nauseated and got abdominal pain. I find out that his respiration rate is 14 per minute, the pulse is 110, the temperature is 37.9, oxygen saturation is 95%, and blood pressure is 120/80. Mr. Smith is an 87-year-old man who was admitted last evening with diarrhea and vomiting. He has been unwell for past four days. He has a history of COPD, prostatic hypertrophy, and bowel cancer. He currently has a colostomy located in the sigmoid section of the bowel. On examination, he is alert, has no vomiting and his vital signs are a QADDS score of 3 but still has pain rate of 6/10, has abdominal pain, has nausea and dizziness. I am not sure what the problem is, but I am worried as Mr. Smith is deteriorating I think you probably need to come and see him. When are you going to be able to get here? Would you like me to ask for a consultant to see the patient now? Is there anything I need to do in the meantime? Conclusion This paper has pointed out that nurses are the most important people in the life of a patient. During the period of a disease, a patient can be treated by different medical professionals or practitioners in a single day. Besides, patients can be moved from one facility to the other during diagnosis, treatment, as well as care thus encountering different shifts of healthcare professional a day. Such change of shifts can introduce safety risks to the life of a patient. This is because of poor handover communication between the staff as well in different facilities that can result in poor treatment or harm to the patient. Besides, handover process should be done in a way that will ensure essential information, as well as background information of the patient is passed from one health officer to the other. To ensure the safety of the patient a health officer should make sure that the current condition of the patient, recent changes as well as ongoing treatments and any other possible cha nge of the patient are well documented and communicated from one medical officer to the other. For the health practitioners who are not sure about the precautions to put in managing their patient's safety, they should always communicate with a doctor to seek the way forward. Putting together the facts around his birth and childhood is difficult because what is known depends mostly on what he later told people. He was raised by his grandmother, Josephine Armstrong, as an infant. At the time of his birth his father walked out on him and his mother. Louis spoke with anger about his dad when he mentioned him at all. He hated his father so much that he told reporter Larry King, I was touring Europe when my father died. Didnt go to his funeral, didnt send nothing. Why should I? He never had no time for me or Mary Ann (his mother). (Collier 19) Armstrong had a genuine affection for his mother, even though se was very undependable, leaving her son to take care of himself and his sister for days at a time. Louis grew up in a tough area in New Orleans knows as The Battle Field where gun play and knife fights were common. At the age of seven he moved to black Storyville. It consisted of dance halls, honky tonks, and brothels. Like Londons Soho, it was an entertainment district. He grew up with music all around him. He could hear music outside his house when he woke up and when he went to bed. It is recorded that Louis did attend school at the Fish school where he learned to read and write. It is not a known fact how long he attended school, but we do know that on New Years Eve, 1912, he was arrested for shooting a gun. He was about eleven years old at the time, and this was considered a very serious offense. He was sent to a reform school on the outskirts of New Orleans called the Coloreds Waif House. It was here that he was introduced to organized music in the form of the school band. Captain Joseph Jones led the band in a military fashion that was extremely strict. This is where Louiss life changed from a delinquen... olageorge1976http://www.blogger.com/profile/09882596724539999181noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4155883594471034504.post-67139388425486017242020-02-29T21:13:00.001-08:002020-02-29T21:13:02.827-08:00Action Plan for TescoBusiness Strategy Action Plan for Tesco Planning assumptions With respect to Tesco it could be stated that the Tesco has good financial stability and other aspect is that they have their operations in the developed economy. The country still untouched the south Asian market which is one of the lucrative areas for retail sector. The Tesco needs to enter into the developing economy as well. China, India etc. these are highly growing economies where the company can commence their business future. It is one of the major factors which are required to be prioritized (D'Esopo and Almquist, 2007). The Tesco already operated into the countries which are highly economically stabilized and have potential to grow in near future. Thus the economic factors are in favor of Tesco. Forecasts and sales It is another factor which is highly effective on the ground of strengthening the internal activities and maintaining the relationship with suppliers. It is clear that the sales forecasting is completely dependent upon the game of demand and supply in the market. The demand and supply both are interrelated concepts and Tesco has managed well in already existing international market. Sales forecasting is one of the most significant planning technique which is highly relevant to the operational activities. The Tesco has good sales ratio there profitability and revenue generation capacity is also quiet appreciable. The past sales trend could take under surveillance to understand the future forecasting of sales (Donnelly andHarrison, 2009). The Tesco can procure the raw material accordingly and most importantly the resources could be managed. The inventory management of Tesco could be managed in international network along with the development of huge suppliersââ¬â¢ network. Marketing implementation and control Action plan The action plan with respect to marketing mix strategies implementation includes understanding the market or economy in which the company is entering. Gaining the proper knowledge about oversees marketing condition can help in taking the appropriate decision. The products should be compatible to the needs and demand of customers (Hamilton and Webster, 2012). The product should not be highly expensive or of low quality, the economic condition of host country is required to be taken into special consideration. The pricing could also easily determine through assessing the right kind of product. At starting phase the help of offer and discount strategies could be taken just to create interest among local people. It can also lead towards the effective pricing strategy. The action plan also includes the place or distribution strategy. The location of outlets and store could be accessible and within the reach of segmented market. With a view of strengthening the brand awareness and educati ng the customers there is huge requirement of focusing upon promotional mix. The online media and television could be the main source to disseminate the information about the availability of Tesco (Chikweche and Fletcher, 2012). Thus in this way the entire plan could be implemented. Budgets The allocation of budget is extremely responsible job which must be done in painstaking manner. If the budget allocation activity has been done in an appropriate manner then it affects the entire process or task at great level. The Tesco has huge cash reserves so it is clear that they can handle the activities or implementation phase in effective manner. The revenue and profits for the Tesco is continuously increasing which improve their capacity to invest into the international market (Schaefer, 2011). The Tesco could implement 50 % of their total profits or revenue in implementing the above plan. Monitoring and control mechanisms The stage of monitoring is very significant with a view of identifying the loop holes and errors into the existing plan. The success of monitoring and controlling mechanism could be ensured only if this activity has undertaken by Tesco management on the regular basis. For the purpose of monitoring the marketing plan there is huge requirement of recording the various aspects which are required to be prioritized. It is clear that Tesco can record the expected positive outcomes and have to compare them with the actual results. It can make Tesco familiar with the current performance and appropriateness of their strategies for international marketing. Ahead the recording should be done for the challenges and risks that have been identified during the particular course of time. After identifying the risks the Tesco can take the required actions and can definitely control the implementation of whole plan. Other than recording or comparing the events, the Tesco can show their reliability upo n the benchmarking technique (Vieceli And Valos, 2000). It could also show its huge expediency in monitoring the activities and progress in an appropriate way. In benchmarking technique the company can set the particular target or some achievement to be achieved in particular period of time. Thus it can also treat as significant technique to strengthen the monitoring and controlling mechanisms in effective way. References: D'Esopo, M. and Almquist, E., 2007. At one level it has brought strangers across the globe close together and at the same time the social media have dissociated people from their immediate environment. Young Internet users become so engrossed in their virtual social interactions that they are totally unaware of the people sitting around them. This behavior results in isolation and loneliness of the youth. The connection with social media disconnects them from their real life friends, family and other acquaintances. Many researchers, psychologists and educationist have showed concerned towards the heavy use of internet by teens and in this connection, they have, tried to find out the impact of this excessive use on the social life and education of adolescents. Subrahmanyam and SÃÅ'mahel cite a study conducted in Pittsburg which collected the data about teen internet users of 93 families and through questionnaires and interviews found out that ââ¬Å" more heavy users of the internet showed a decline in social involvement ( communication within the family and size of peopleââ¬â¢s social networks) and increases in loneliness and depressionâ⬠(131). Jordon while looking into educational implications of excessive use of social media by adolescents has also tried to connect it with loneliness and depression of the youth. He has suggested control of such activity by parents and teachers for the proper ââ¬Å" health and developmentâ⬠of young persons (qtd. in Mcwhirter et al. 125). In March this year, theà NSPCCà published a detailed breakdown of calls made to ChildLine in the last five years. Though overall the number of calls from children and teenagers had risen by just 10%, calls about loneliness had nearly tripled, from 1,853 five years ago to 5,525 in 2009. This playing field is constructed of words and statements, of course, but the precise meaning of "words" and "statements" is often left unclear. I will begin by defining these things as I intend to use them. I will also make a cursory attempt to explain the different types of statements we will encounter, the importance of falsifiablity and the role of faith, in addition to a smattering of other definitions that will become important as we proceed. Statements The ultimate building blocks of any philosophical system are statements. A statement is an attempt to communicate that which is true (or perceived to be true) through the symbolic code (words) of a language. All symbols are, of course, inherently limited. There exist various properties in a symbol's object of reference, which cannot b e contained within the symbol itself. An obvious example of this is the property of real existence. We may discuss in detail the various properties of a horse and of a unicorn. Considered only from a linguistic standpoint, a horse and unicorn can be assumed to be virtually synonymous. However, the object of the symbol horse possesses the property of real existence while the object of the symbol unicorn does not. The word/symbol horse, though, cannot convey this property because it cannot be contained by the symbol. True knowledge of this property can only be obtained by finding a real horse and touching it, riding it, getting to know it. The consequence of this is the understanding that there exist incommunicable properties of all real objects. These incommunicable properties are no less real than their communicable counterparts. They simply cannot be conveyed by symbols. Knowledge of these properties can only be obtained by direct experience with the object itself. These properties will hereafter be referred to as existential properties. Please note, however, that acknowledgment of such existential properties does not negate the reality or real importance of those properties, which can be contained and conveyed by the object's symbol. All real objects contain both communicable and existential properties and to disparage consideration of either category is to limit the degree to which we can understand the nature of such objects. olageorge1976http://www.blogger.com/profile/09882596724539999181noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4155883594471034504.post-65375105922108893942020-01-16T02:09:00.001-08:002020-01-16T02:09:03.258-08:00Criminal justice EssayWhile each state may have its own principles of the justice system, it is evident that there is a very vast difference between the juvenile justice system and the adult criminal justice system. The juvenile justice systemââ¬â¢s underlying principle is that the youth are inherently different from the adults in as much as their development is concerned. Hence, in the juvenile justice system, its primary goals are to rehabilitate and protect the youth offender. On the other hand, in the adult criminal justice system, it considers deterrence, not rehabilitation as its primary goal. It also believes that the punishments and sanctions of the offender must be proportionate with the offense. Therefore, the graver the offense, the harsher the punishment should be. In terms of court proceedings, the adult criminal justice system entails that the proceeding and court records be made public. This is one of rights of an adult offender. Yet, in the juvenile justice system, court proceedings are confidential and limitations are placed on the access of the court records and proceedings in the belief that these youth offenders can still be rehabilitated and if their rehabilitation and records are made public, these might cause harmful and unnecessary shame and dishonour to the youthful offender. But both the juvenile and adult criminal justice systems allow parole to be given to the offenders. For youth offenders, parole combines surveillance with activities to reintegrate the juvenile into the community while the adult criminal justice system is primarily based on surveillance and monitoring of illicit behavior. ââ¬Å"Juvenile Justice: A Century of Change. Washington DC: Office of Juvenile Justice, 1999. ) Lastly, both of these criminal justice systems are similar in a way that both allow detention of its offenders. They just vary in purpose because in the juvenile justice system, an offender may be detained for his own protection and the communityââ¬â¢s protection as well while in the adult justice system, the defendant has the right to apply for bail. olageorge1976http://www.blogger.com/profile/09882596724539999181noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4155883594471034504.post-47056044438913815772020-01-07T22:30:00.001-08:002020-01-07T22:30:02.882-08:00Research Is A Key Piece Of What Psychology Is All About Essay Homework #1 Research is a key piece of what psychology is all about. From slavery, to the Jim Crow era, and now in todayââ¬â¢s society. Today in the United States the incarceration rate has nearly tripled over the years. We will write a custom essay sample on Persuasive Essay or any similar topic only for you Order Now With the significant increase in the incarceration rates, it leads you to wonder what the cause may be. The government has found a way to indirectly create another system caste, which we live in today. That system caste is called the mass incarceration, also known as the New Jim Crow. In the mass incarceration one term can describe the whole system of injustice; The Prison Industrial Complex. The Prison Industrial Complex is the overlapping interests of government and industry. It uses surveillance, policing, and imprisonment as solutions to what are, in actuality, economic, social, and political issues (What is the PIC). Although there are many influences that contributes to the Prison Industrial Complex, violence against women, people of color, hatred and fear of immigrants are the secondary influences that primary influences, such as, the War on Drugs, the Stop and Frisk policy, etc. target. The term violence against women encompasses a multitude of abuse directed at women and girls over the life span. Violence against women is any gender-based violence that results in physical, sexual, and/or psychological harm or suffering Violence against Women). Rape is the most common example of violence against women. Rape and sexual assault of women by prison guards is common in the U. S. prisons and jails, with frequent retaliation by officials for those who protest and complain. Majority of women who have been physically abused havenââ¬â¢t been treated properly. Those women tend to cope with their pain by using and abusing drugs, which is why the Prison Industrial complex targets women. There are many ways the government targets immigrants, but it all started September 11, 2001. Since 9/11 the government made it their priority to target immigrant. More specifically those immigrants of color. By using the media to spread their message to the public, that immigrants pose a threat to the United States, immigrants became one of the racial groups targeted by the Prison Industrial Complex (Public Attitudes of Immigrants in the United State, France and Germany). With the attitudes Americans have that all immigrants are terrorist law enforcement, and the government deems it necessary to mistreat them by stripping them of their rights and holding them in detention centers which they are being treated inhumanely (Corrupting Justice). From the War on Drugs, to the Stop and Frisk policy, to the three strike law, etc. these indirectly targets people of color. Stop and Frisk policy is mainly known in the state of New York. Research shows that the stop and frisk policy is of racial bias and unconstitutional. People of African and Spanish descent are stopped and frisk more than Caucasians (An Analysis of the NYPDââ¬â¢s Stop-and-Frisk Policy in the Context of Claims of Racial Bias). It was deemed unconstitutional by a judge named Shira A. Scheindlin stating that the stop and frisk policy violates the 4th Amendment and the 14th Amendment. It also states that law enforcement are racially profiling their suspects. The War on Drugs was initiated in 1980 by the former President Nixon. Since the War on Drugs was enforced sixty percent of people of color have been incarcerated for drug offenses. Some might say that it is a coincidence that such acts are happening to people of color, immigrants, and women. That they arenââ¬â¢t being targeted by the government and law enforcement. Some might even say that by cleaning the streets of the drug abuser or people who pose a threat to the American society, is a good thing. That the law enforcement are doing their jobs. They are creating public safety into communities. That the only reason it seems like the government are targeting these people is because they are mainly doing the crimes, but can you really back those suggestions up with the facts. The media is one of the main reason why the American people are ignorant to the facts. The media is funded by the government. The media portrays, African Americans, Spanish people, Caucasians, and others differently in music, movies, and in the news. In movies you will see that majority of black roles are being ghetto, loud, gangsters, and baby mama, as opposed to few roles of them actually being intelligent and successful. In the news you majority hear how African Americans are being arrested for drugs and violent acts, and justified as their nature as oppose to Caucasian people who were in the news for school shootings, but justify their act of violence as a psychological problem. Different influences in the Prison Industrial Complex are being used to target women, people of color and immigrants. When the government uses the media to make Americans fear a certain race it causes these problems of injustice. When you look at the incarceration rate and the reason they are incarcerated you will understand that the government are not trying help but to profit. Arresting drug users, arenââ¬â¢t solving an issue of their drug problems. Resolving the issues of drugs is finding the reasons people are using drugs. The Prison Industrial Complex is a business between industries and the government. How to cite Persuasive Essay, Essays Persuasive Essay Free Essays ââ¬Å"Itââ¬â¢s not Just a game. â⬠to many athletes this statement rings true. Sports fuel the drive and determination within people, and provide them an essential learning tool from which they can grow. We will write a custom essay sample on Persuasive Essay or any similar topic only for you Order Now Competitive is defined as, ââ¬Å"of or relating to a situation in which people or groups are trying to win a contest or be more successful than other : relating to or involving competition . ââ¬Å"(Merriam-Webster. Com) This concept of competitiveness is the foundation of all sports. The competitive spirit and thirst to ant to better oneself in order to be at the top is a fueling force that will propel our children far beyond their years on the court. Providing children with equal playing time in youth sports discourages the necessary need for healthy competition and takes away valuable life lessons that will prepare them for the future. With over six years of experience coaching girls basketball at the grade school level, the debate over playing time Is one thing that I have encountered a lot. For the most part people are strongly on one side or the other. Although there are other people Like me that agrees with this rule, in most grade school sports this rule has become a mandatory enforced aspect of the game ââ¬â slowly and forcefully crushing the heart of the competitiveness that so many athletes Join sports for. There are many counterclaim to this debate ranging from psychological harm all the way to it creating the obesity epidemic we are currently facing in our country. One debate that I have heard numerous times is that children learn through playing an actual game verses only in practice. This is ridiculous! To start off, any good player treats practice as Hough it Is a game and puts forth Just as much effort. Coaches demand this Intensity level In practice, so they can adequately prepare their team for the actual games. Practice Is where you learn; games are where you put your skills to the test. If kids actually learned more from games, and the purpose of coaching girlââ¬â¢s basketball at the beginning grade school level was in fact to Children should have to earn their playing time. When we enforce the equal playing time rule we are taking away the goal in which the athletes aspire to achieve. We demise the competitive nature of the port, and destroy the heart of the game. Not everybody can be winners, that is the harsh reality of life! Kids put in the effort in practice in order to win games, therefore the best players should be the ones on the court representing their team. Why even keep score if the important is not who wins? Sports are suppose to be a competition thus they are going to have winners and losers. This teaches the kids the importance of sportsmanship and give them something to work towards. Similar to grades In school, some students earn better grades than others and they are rewarded for It. Sports should not be any different and we should allow the better athletes to shine, excel and be praised for their valuables rather than try and hold them back in order to even out the playing field for other players. No where in life are harder and catch up to the level in which their opponents are at! The physical benefits that some argue are important to implement at such a young age is another argument put forth by the opposing side that I have heard numerous times. They claim that the importance of allowing children to rest in the game is crucial to maintaining their physical health and preventing injuries. The obvious factor in which this statement fails to ring true is that at any level players should be in a good enough physical condition to not only run the full amount of the game but to also be able hustle and go one hundred percent the entire time. This is why practices are usually twice as long as games and any good coach expects their player to hustle throughout every drill. The obesity issue in which parents argue that by benching children it discourages them from playing the sport and thus results in a decrease of physical activity. If the childââ¬â¢s main goal is to get physically fit than they should not be n a team sport. There are many individual sports in which a child can strictly work towards bettering themselves without hurting the rest of the team. If a parent is trying to put their childââ¬â¢s physical well being on the responsibility of their childââ¬â¢s coach that is absurd. A sports season is strictly Just that a season and no coach should have to worry about the childââ¬â¢s physical fitness level during a game. If the coach allows the child practice with the team than by far he has fulfilled his duty. Lastly, the main argument that so many parents think they are Justified in preaching s the physiological harm that is instilled in a child that rides the bench. Lack of self confidence and the feeling of unworthiness are claimed to have a more damaging affect on children than the fairy tale reality that equal playing time blinds them with. Why lie to our children? As parents and coaches we are suppose to prepare kids to excel at the next levels in life. The ability to get back on their feet after being knocked down and make the most out of any situation by far out shines this cushioning effect that parents insist that coaches to provide. This does nothing but Ella the inevitable and handicap our children from learning the correct coping techniques to excel in not only sports but also in life. One of the best basketball players of all time, Michael Jordan, has been quoted saying, ââ¬Å"If youââ¬â¢re trying to achieve, there will be roadblocks. Iââ¬â¢ve had them; everybody has had them. But obstacles donââ¬â¢t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, donââ¬â¢t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it. â⬠It is not Just a game, it is a way of life. When the debate over equal playing is brought up the most important thing to remember is to keep the bigger picture in mind. Yes sports at the grade school level do have the task of introducing the fundamentals of the game to individuals but they also carry the ability to teach so much more! Let the sport be the teacher and donââ¬â¢t manipulate the self guided lessons that players will encounter and benefit immensely from. To instill a sense of entitlement rather than a hard working mentality is exactly what giving the children equal playing is doing. Playing time at any level should be something that an athlete has to earn and the competitive spirit within a game should be praised and fueled not manipulated. America has long been the land of freedom and hope to the world, and the American military is what has kept her that way. People have forgotten how important and valuable the military is to the world that we live in. We will write a custom essay sample on Persuasive Essay or any similar topic only for you Order Now As part of the Budget Control Act of 2011, automatic sequestration calls for $1. 2 trillion in lowered federal spending, with 50% coming from defense and 50% coming from non-defense budgets. If Congress cannot reach an agreement, these cuts will reduce the Department of Defense spending by about $55 billion dollars. On September 11, 2001, the United States faced a difficult time in which 3,000 lives were lost due to an attack upon the U. S. by terrorists who hijacked airplanes and crashed them into the Twin Towers in New York City, the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, and the United States Pennsylvania! That day, 9/11, has become a day in which we remember the lives that were lost and the families who were affected by such a tragedy. We called on our military once again, and they were there to protect our country. I am against automatic sequestration towards the military and military programs for many reasons. The Department of Defense is already going to have to downsize the military once again due to President Obamaââ¬â¢s budget cuts. The Obama administrationââ¬â¢s defense strategy has plans to cut $487 billion dollars from the budget. Then, on January 3, 2012 if the sequestration goes into effect, it will strip an additional 10% from the Pentagonââ¬â¢s budget. This will cut about $500 billion from the Defense Departmentââ¬â¢s budget over the next ten years. In a ââ¬Å"meat axe approachâ⬠the mandated cuts will be across the board. There is no special favor for high priority programs. The military had already started the downsize process back in August of 2011. The military is expected to fall from 569,000 active duty soldiers to 426,000 active duty soldiers. It just so happens that in the year 2013 we will have spent roughly the same amount of money that we did in 2007, $472 billion dollars in this war. Even with the budgets cut the United States is still looking at spending the most money compared to the 17 nations combined, and three times more than China. The Budget Control Act (BCA) of 2011 requires the federal government to reduce spending by more than $1 trillion by 2021. This amounts to cutting about $109 billion from the budget each year. REFERENCE! Keep double spacing between paragraphs Another reason I am against the cuts is because the military is set in place to defend this nation and control the chaos and the noise that may occur. Our armed force is an organizational structure as a result of the National Security Act of 1947. The United States Armyââ¬â¢s role is to maintain ground forces of the United States. The Armyââ¬â¢s purpose is to protect and defend the United States by using soldiers on foot, also known as ground soldiers. The Air Force supports the ground troops by providing air power and support while the army moves around on foot. The Navy uses the seas where and when our national interests require it. Also, the Navy will assist the Air Force by carrying some of their aircrafts on board during deployments. The Marine Corps is known as the ââ¬Å"Infantry of the Navy. â⬠They are mostly assault teams and deal with captures and controls. The Marines are a lighter force than the Army they are more self-sufficient than the any other branch. Each branch has unique abilities and training in order to deal with any of threat to our country. Together, they have made us strong. With the military having to make such changes, they are leaving our nation open to more attacks like the one on September 11, 2001. Finally, cutting back on the military budgets will create emotional and financial hardships for those men and women who have dedicated their lives to serving this country. There is always added stress when one has to do the same job with fewer people. It is also a strain when they are not sure of their job security and they know their families are dependent upon them to provide for their needs. A soldierââ¬â¢s job is already a stressful job without this added worry. On top of that, with the lack of good jobs readily available in this economy, it will add an overflow of Americans in need of work. When these good men and women are unable to find jobs to support their families, they will have to seek government assistance and we will be adding an influx of people on an already overstressed and unsustainable unemployment and welfare system. I would much rather have my tax dollars going to pay a working military man or woman. Although I donââ¬â¢t believe in cutting military spending, I realize that we sometimes forget how hard the government has to be on the rules and laws in order to maintain balance and harmony in the world. The government is trying to find a way to get us out of the slum that we are currently in, and get the United States back on its feet economically. Cutting the Department of Defense budget is only temporary, and can be reversed once the government has reached its goal of financial stability. In conclusion, the United States government should rethink the automatic sequestration toward the military funding and payroll cuts. The military is a valuable asset to the U. S. With the budget cuts being taken into effect, the military will be forced to continue its downsizing and lose some resources that help the military families out as well. Yes, the U. S. is possibly going to face another depression, but punishing the soldiers who place their lives and their familiesââ¬â¢ lives on the line is not fair. Soldiers fight day in and day out not only to have a career, but for the U. S. as well. The budget cut is about financial stability for the United States as a whole. I donââ¬â¢t agree with the military having to be the primary budget cut. You have movie stars and actresses who only pretend to fight in wars and serve this country that are making so much more than the average person. The government has decided that these people whose lives are displayed on television everyday deserve to make more than these soldiers who go overseas and fight day in and day out. Sometimes they are gone for nine months or more, away from their families and friends, and they only get a couple thousand dollars a month. When they return home, they are supposed to act like nothing happened. So many soldiers have lost their lives due to these wars, and some soldiers come back injured and they will never be the same. Sometimes, we forget about the soldiers and what they did and do for us so we can walk around and live the lives that we live. They fight for our freedom each and every day, placing their lives on the line, fighting for our freedom. The least that we can do as free Americans is to stand up and support our military. Thank them for their service, remember them as you go freely about your lives, and not just on Veteranââ¬â¢s Day or Memorial Day. More importantly, let your Congressperson and Representatives know that you do not believe in solving our problems by cutting the budget of our Armed Forces. Good topic, one I know you are passionate about! I again thank you for all you do for the US. Just a few minor things you should do differently. Did you use any references for your statistics? I Professor Singer January 31, 2012 Persuasive Essay, Iââ¬â¢d Rather Smoke Than Kiss In times like today, people have mixed views on smoking and on the effects it has on the human body. Most people who smoke, feel that non-smokers are against them, and believe in the myths that are portrayed by cigarette companies. We will write a custom essay sample on Persuasive Essay or any similar topic only for you Order Now They do not realize how addictive cigarettes are, and end up stuck with the burden. I feel that her entire article is truly opinionated and biased about non-smokers and she really doesnââ¬â¢t have the hard evidence, just personal experience. In ââ¬Å"Iââ¬â¢d Rather Smoke Than Kiss,â⬠Florence King states that no matter what American society thinks, says or does, it will not convince her to quit smoking. Kingââ¬â¢s choice of words suggests that the government purposely tries to segregate all smokers from non-smokers, by making signs or segregating areas for smokers to go. She implies that all non-smokers are against smokers and will do anything in their power to stop them by passing laws. A lot of cigarette companies tell people that if they stop smoking, it will put a strain on the economy, ââ¬Å"Strategiesâ⬠. Kingââ¬â¢s article is important because her arguments exemplify different observational situations, which society imposes on smokers in the United States and offers knowledge about some of the issues of discrimination towards smokers by combining personal experience and actual situations that smokers encounter everyday in life. Cigarette smoking is the leading cause of preventable death in the United States, ââ¬Å"Strategiesâ⬠. It causes serious illness among an estimated 8. 6 million persons, it cost $167 billion dollars, in annual health-related losses, and it kills approximately 438,000 people each year. Worldwide, smoking kills about 5 million a year, ââ¬Å"Frieden and Blackmanâ⬠. Through these statistics, you think people would realize that smoking is not something that should be messed with. Most of the reasons why smokers keep smoking is because they are given myths about the product. The first myth that is pretty common is light cigarettes are less harmful, ââ¬Å"Frieden and Blackmanâ⬠. By this being said, people continue to buy cigarettes, thinking that light means that the content in the cigarette is low, like how diet soda is. However, there is no standard definition of what constitutes a light or ultra-light brand, and tobacco companies admit that this is used to describe the taste of the product. Secondly, Smokers think that all they lose is a couple of bad years at the end of their life. The average smoker, who dies from tobacco-related causes, loses about fourteen years of life, ââ¬Å"Frieden and Blackmanâ⬠. Not smoking will extend life and not smoking around other people will extend their lives. The last myth is tobacco is good for the economy. The tobacco industry argues that tobacco creates employment, raises tax revenues, and contributes to the national gross domestic product. They neglect to inform people that in the United States, smoking causes annual economic losses of $167 billion per year, including health care expenses and productivity losses caused by premature death, ââ¬Å"Frieden and Blackmanâ⬠. So the deaths by tobacco use and expenses for healthcare, out ways buying the product today. In Kingââ¬â¢s article, she calls non-smokers ââ¬Å"anti-tobacco Puritans, Misanthrope, and Health Nazis. â⬠These are pretty harsh words for somebody to call a large population of people. Name calling such a large group of people is very wrong and offensive. Just because some of the people that she has encountered have tried to restrict her smoking, doesnââ¬â¢t give her the right to bash non-smokers. Although Florence King has a good argument on the way non-smokers treat smokers, she doesnââ¬â¢t use a lot of statistics to convince. Smoking is a personââ¬â¢s choice each person has the freedom to do so, just not around non-smokers. In my opinion, I think that smoking around somebody that doesnââ¬â¢t like it is, rude; if they want to smoke, they can do it in a designated place. Not everybody wants to be around cigarette smoke. In fact, second hand smoke is just as bad as the person smoking cigarettes themselves, ââ¬Å"Strategiesâ⬠. The biggest thing about smoking is that it is not healthy, and smokers really could benefit from cutting down or even quitting. All through this article, Florence King is unhappy about how smokers are getting treated by non-smokers, and she feels that they are being cornered from all the limitations that have been placed on them. But most of the people in the United States just want to be there and help people quit because they know it is not healthy. They also know that it is very addictive and hard to stop. Smokers have the freedom to smoke. Itââ¬â¢s not illegal. However, people who donââ¬â¢t smoke shouldnââ¬â¢t have to sit and breathe all that smoke into their lungs. That just isnââ¬â¢t fair. Who is at fault? These are the thing we will discuss. Recently a lot of people have been in an uproar over sequester and the spending cuts that will automatically take place. What most people fail to understand is that this is not something that happened overnight it has loomed over us for months and our government has failed to take appropriate action to prevent it. We will write a custom essay sample on Persuasive Essay or any similar topic only for you Order Now The true effects of sequester are unknown to most, including the government officials that put it in place. Instead of pushing forward and attempting to come to a compromise the parties have decided to engage in a full scale blame war; It can be said however that compromise isnââ¬â¢t needed since the sequester itself is the result of a compromise made months ago in which one side has failed to live up to their end of the bargain. It may be possible that the provisions of sequester may be necessary and actually good for the country. What exactly is Sequester? The Sequester is a series of automatic budget cuts, set to take place on the first of March 2013, signed into law by President Barrack Obama in August 2011. 85 Billion dollars of these cuts are set to occur during the 2013 fiscal year and will continue through 2021 totaling 1. 2 trillion dollars. While sequester calls for across the board cuts to domestic spending as well as defense spending there are certain areas where no spending cuts will be allowed to take place. Spending on wars, military personnel, Funding allocated for Medicaid, Social Security, Pell grants, veteransââ¬â¢ benefits and some low-income programsà are the areas that have been excluded from sequester and therefore cannot be cut. The programs that are exempt from cuts seem to be the ones that both side continue to tell the public will be the first to be cut, this shows either congress themselves do not understand the law or they are deliberately lying to the American public in order to gain political favor (Miller, 2013). How did we get such a position in the first place? In August 2011 President Barrack Obama equested Congress to raise the debt ceiling allowing the country to borrow more money. Upon receiving the request Congress said they would agree to raise the debt ceiling immediately as long as by January 28th 2013 the President would agree to a budget which would cut 1. 2 trillion dollars from the deficit. Failure to find these cuts through a budget would result in a utomatic cuts across the board. The Republican lead House has since put forth several budget proposals and the President has deemed them all unacceptable yet the President himself has failed to put fort ha proposal of his own. This should however come as no surprise as the current administration has failed to agree on a budget since President Obama took office and continues to run on resolutions and borrowed money. This shows that while a deal was made and the Republican lead house held up their end of the bargain by raising the debt ceiling when asked the President has failed to keep his end of the deal. Who is really to blame for this situation? While both major political parties will have you believe that the other is at fault, the truth is there are 4 groups at fault here. The first group at fault is the Republican Party for making a deal in which their end had to be held up immediately while the President had time to plan how to not hold up his end. Secondly the Democratic Party is to blame for knowingly presenting a deal in which they had no intention of holding up their end. Thirdly the President is to blame for signing the bill and agreeing to make the cuts when he himself had no intention of following through on making the necessary cuts. Fourth and perhaps most importantly, we the people, the citizens of the United States are to blame for not keeping our elected officials accountable, for not educating ourselves on the issues, for continuing to vote the same people into congress and expecting a different result, and most importantly for allowing ourselves to be manipulated by party politics (Miron, 2013). It is easy to divide a people once you have made them choose sides, our nation has become polarized to the point that even if we do not agree with someoneââ¬â¢s stance we will often side with them because of their party affiliation. We must not allow ourselves to be divided; we must allow our voices to be heard. It is my humble opinion that perhaps we should do nothing about these budget cuts force these bloated government agencies to operate with less. Maybe just maybe these agencies will become more efficient and learn to operate within their means instead of growing themselves for the sake of growth. This may be the hard way to do it but our elected officials have been given the easy way for a long time and now somebody has to pay the piper, will it be painful for a lot of people? Yes it will but the fact remains at some point we must force our government to spend wisely, it is after all our money they are spending supposedly in our best interests. References Miller, L.
